Every professional league, ranked on one scale. Click a tier to see where it sits.
The absolute pinnacle of professional basketball. Every player here is among the best in the world. The NBA and EuroLeague are in a class of their own.
NBA: 96–100. EuroLeague: 92–95 max. No EuroLeague team exceeds 95 — the NBA floor starts at 96.
Difficulty scores are computed from five weighted factors, updated annually, and validated against real player movement data.
A league where player salaries significantly exceed what the competition tier alone would suggest. Japan B.League, CBA China, and NBL Australia all pay premium rates relative to their difficulty scores. Agents take note.
A program or conference that consistently performs above its tier classification. Gonzaga, San Diego State, and Dayton regularly compete at and beat Power 5 programs. Their players should be evaluated at the higher level.
15 PPG in the Betclic Élite (T2, Diff 81) at age 21 is a completely different story than 15 PPG in NCAA Low-Major (T5, Diff 48). The tier system gives every stat line its real context.
Show a club exactly where a player has been battle-tested. A career arc from T5 → T3 → T2 tells a story of consistent progression that raw stats can't capture alone.
European players are systematically undervalued in transfer evaluation. A 19-year-old averaging 12 PPG in BSL Turkey (T2, Diff 84) is a legitimate NBA prospect. Hoople bridges that gap.
Hoople is a basketball stats and intelligence platform covering every level of the game, from the NBA and EuroLeague down to grassroots. It gives every stat competitive context, with player profiles, game logs, stat leaders, career paths, and team and league websites.
Hoople grades leagues around the world with a difficulty score from 0 to 100. The score is how players, teams, and games are compared fairly across countries and levels.
Eight tiers. Each league is placed in one tier, from the NBA and EuroLeague at the top of the scale down to grassroots.
Difficulty scores use five weighted factors and are updated annually: competition quality 40 percent, talent pipeline 20 percent, European results 15 percent, infrastructure 15 percent, and financial strength 10 percent.
Fans, scouts, and agents use player profiles, game logs, cross-league comparisons, stat leaders, career paths from college to the pros, and each day’s games ranked by difficulty. Teams, leagues, and programs use Hoople for game and league stats, websites powered by Hoople, and widgets that put stats and player profiles on an existing site.
